Ferry Corsten Unveils New Album & Concept Tour “Once Upon A Night”

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

Dutch dance music pioneer Ferry Corsten unveils Once Upon A Night, his latest compilation and concept tour. It is built as a double disc set featuring 25 unreleased tracks, all of which have been produced by Ferry himself or his frequent collaborators exclusively for the compilation.  The album out March 30th on Ultra Music is an amalgam of the best in house and trance. Drawing influence from Corsten’s travels to the world’s most exotic destinations, listeners are transported on a journey through unchartered territories of sound.

On the new album Ferry says, “I am happy to be back with a compilation after quite some years.  Because of the traveling and touring I get to see a lot of cultures.  These impressions have had a great influence on compiling this double album.  I personally think the mix is great fusion of house and trance combined in a two and half hour musical journey.” The album’s exclusive tracklisting is designed to bring the warmth of a tropical beach to even the coldest of winter nights.  With Ferry Corsten leading the way, Once Upon A Night marks the beginning of a new era in mixed compilations.  Let him lead you into the night…

To support the compilation, Ferry Corsten also unleashes the brand new tour concept: Once Upon A Night: The Experience. Designed as a 6 hour interactive journey in 3 parts (sunset, night and sunrise), the show highlights the magic of the compilation visualized by a never before seen living backdrop.  Ferry will be accompanied by two major league DJ’s, who along with Ferry will lead the audience into the night. The interactive combination of sound and visuals will take the audience on a complete sensory experience with state-of-the-art production techniques – emulating sunset to sunrise; from dusk ‘til dawn; pre-party through after-party. Once Upon A Night: The Experience will be an amazing indulgence of the senses never before seen in a DJ performance.

Since 2007, Ferry Corsten has hosted the weekly radio show ‘Corsten’s Countdown’ on 22 worldwide radio stations and weekly on Sirius XM Radio Wednesdays at 9pm ET. The program is designed as a weekly chart show which puts the listener in control of the  playlist.  As Ferry plays the latest tracks from established and up-and-coming producers, listeners are able to vote for their favorites. During the month’s final show, Ferry presents the top 10 tracks based on previous weeks voting results.  Beginning in March 2010, the popular radio show will be available as a free weekly podcast. Every Thursday a brand new episode will be available for download via iTunes and www.ferrycorsten.com.

Ferry Corsten has been nominated at this year’s International Dance Music Awards in the Best European DJ category and “Corsten’s Countdown” is nominated in the Best Radio Mix Show category.  As one of the most anticipated annual events on the global dance music calendar the IDMA’s generate votes worldwide from music enthusiasts around the globe.  With 57 award categories, the event honors exceptional achievements throughout the spectrum of dance music.

It’s easy to get excessive when talking about DJs, but with dance music veteran and trance hero Ferry Corsten, the facts speak for themselves.  The accolades and awards he has received for his productions, remixes, and DJ skills have resulted in Ferry being voted as one of the Top 10 DJs in the world by DJ Magazine for almost a decade. Since his immersion on the scene in the late ’90s, the Dutch musician has amassed best-selling albums and nearly a dozen gold singles.  He also maintains a worldwide tour schedule which, on any given weekend, brings him to all corners of the globe.

His albums, remixes, and singles reach iconic status almost immediately upon release as such iconic tracks as “Made of Love”, “Punk”, “Gouryella”, and “Out of the Blue” can prove. His anthemic 2001 System F album, Out of the Blue was recently re-released and digitally re-mastered featuring the complete track list and some hard to find remixes, along with Out of the Blue 2010, which features the legendary trance anthem remixed by some of today’s top artists including Tiesto, Laidback Luke, and Giuseppe Ottaviani, amongst a slew of others. Now with ‘One Upon A Night’ hitting our shores, Ferry shows no signs of slowing down in 2010.

Listen to Corsten’s Countdown – HERE. A preview of Once Upon A Night can be heard in a very special episode on March 17th.

DJtunez.net Interviews Trance DJ/Producer Randy Boyer

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

Photobucket

Hey there Randy! So tell us what have you been up to lately, and what can we expect from you in the near future?

Well I have been working extremely hard the past few months finishing up a lot of remixes and original productions as well. I just did a remix for Kiss Me Here by Tritonal which is coming out soon on Spundae Music and I also have a remix of Solarstone’s Slave that is out on Solaris. I have been working on launching my own label with my good friend,Darude. This is taking a lot of work in terms of getting everything ready but we are really excited about the future.

What would you say was your first big break in the music scene?

As far as breaks go, I dont’t believe I had any. I worked extremely hard to get where I am right now, and everything that I have accomplished, I made happen by my persistence, integrity and, hard work. Of course there have been people who have been extremely helpful in my career which I have always been so appreciative of.

Tell us, Since getting into the music business, what has been your proudest moment?

My proudest moment was when Armin Van Buuren emailed me in 2004 the night after I have him ‘CQ (Seek You)’ – EnMass. He said he loved the song, played it that night in Ibiza and the crowd went nuts. He wanted to sign it and so EnMass was born

Your partner from EnMass,Eric Tadla, passed away in 2008. Was that one of the toughest things you’ve dealt with, in your music career? How has he influenced your music? You two made amazing music together!

Yes, There is no comparison to losing not only a production partner but a best friend as well. I really hope no one ever has to deal with it. I really learned a lot from him in the studio. I have been saying that I will always keep his influence and memory alive thoughout my music career and I have recently decided that I am going to be titling my new lavel ‘EnMass Music’.

Growing up, what were some of you ambitions? Did you always know you wanted to be in the music scene? What drew you to this and more particularly, this music?

I have always been a competitive person and music lover. I didn’t know what I wanted to do with music until I was 18 and started going out to clubs. Then I fell in love with it, and realized that’s what I wanted to do the rest of my life. I have always been a fan of EDM music from the very beginning of my career, it was my favorite to play, because it always had great stories.

Who are some of your favorite artists in electronic music? Any particular tracks you can’t stop listening to?

I listen to a lot of music, and to be quite honest when I listen to music it is not always EDM. My favorite EDM artist at the moment are Heatbeat,Tritonal,Darude,Gareth Emery,Ferry Corsten and, Armin Van Buuren. My favorite tune of 2009 was Man On The Run – Dash Berlin with Cerf,Mitiska & Jaren.

Many people now-a-days love to say ”trance is dead”, I particular disagree, how do you feel about the scene these days, and about the music that’s being put out?

I think Trance is actually on a comeback. Mainstream radio is playing electro now, and more clubs are actually playing it as well. So I think trance is on the way back up which is great. I love to gain new listeners and fans who are new to trance as well. I have a radio show, the Buzz Podcast, on Kiss 95.7 FM in connecticut and it has definitely introduced a lot of new listeners in New England to the world of EDM.

You’ve done shows all over now, tell us what has been your favorite gig to date, and how do crowds vary from state to state or even country to country?

There are so many gigs that were amazing, its so hard to pick just one,so I will name a few this past year. Tiesto @ Tsongas Arena(6,000 people were there,it was insane! It was also Tiesto’s first Arena show in New England which I was honored to be part of!), ISTMO Music Fest(El Salvador),Perfecto @ Rain(Vegas). Here is a great video of the Vegas show. I will be traveling for my first time to Europe in December for Monday Bar Cruise so I’m sure that’s going to be a great experience. The crowds are always great, it’s amazing to see how many fans i really have. THANK YOU ALL!

Why do you think this music isn’t as big as it is in, for instance, Europe? Do you think we need some 50 Cent and Lil Wayne type beefs going, or getting some DJ’s to start dressing up like Lady Gaga before it gets some major exposure?

Hahah very good question. If you take a look at mainstream, it goes through transitions, like it is now. Hip Hop is dead, and pop and top 40 is hitting pretty good. EDM music is alway evolving, and I think some songs will cross over in the near future. One of my favorite ways to describe EDM music to people who dont know what it is,is this;Electronic Dance Music is like Soccer(Football), It’s big everywhere in the world except North America. Im trade marking that by the way. I think EDM needs more exposure on FM radio and other outlets and it will catch more with the average American.

Speaking of beefs, did you read about the Deadmau5 and Marcus Shossow deal, from a while ago? What did you think about that?

I try and stay away from all the politics of dancing as PVD calls it,so no comment.

Well Randy, Thank you for your time and we hope to hear some new tracks from you soon as well as see you at a show sometime soon!

Thank you, make sure you check out my website for all my upcoming gigs as well as pictures from my past events. www.RandyBoyer.com. There you can also find a link to my free podcast on iTunes, the Buzz Podcast. Thank You!

Tune Of The Week

Sunday, September 6th, 2009

Whats up world, we’re leaving for the Electric Zoo Festival in about an hour(Pictures and Videos coming soon), So lets get this thing rolling. The winner of this weeks Top5Tunez with 30% of the votes, is the Cosmic Gate remix of Fabio XB & Ronnie Play Ft Gabriel Cage – “Inside Of You”. I agree with the comment left on the YouTube page by Polarfuchs about this Cosmic Gate and this track, “Cosmic Gate is just sick. Love them! Greeeeat track”.. Really I couldn’t of summed it up any better. Up next with 25% of the votes is Marcus Schossow’s alias Progresia with “Galandia” , and again Polarfuchs sounds off on the YouTube page, “Schossow owns. He is so damn skilled 5*”, true and to the point!!

With 18% of the votes came Cliff Coenraad’s “Distorted Reality” , and yes Polarfuchs did comment on it, but I just want to say Cliff Coenraad is really giving the electronic dance scene a sick, new sound too it, and people are loving it, hope he can make it out to New York soon, so we can check him out live! Rafael Frost’s “Boomerang” took in 14% of the votes, Mr. Frost has brought us a handful of quality productions, but this in my opinion, is his best work to date. Now with 13% of the votes comes Tritonal Ft Christina Soto – Lunarium (Daydream Fantasy Vocal Mix), amazing production by them again, the name of the mix really says it all, the track puts you into a sort of fantasy land and Christina’s voice really works beautifully on this track, the record really gives me a feel like Master & Nickson Ft. Justine Suissa “Out There(5th Dimension)” did, very uplifting..keep up the good work guys!

Enjoy this weeks tracks and make sure you vote for your favorite! We’ll have a lot of new pictures and videos up this week so make sure you stay tuned!!

Tune Of The Week

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

Welcome back boys and girls. Had an amazing weekend hope you did too. We’re back at it here at DJtunez.net with your Top5Tunez, lets get to last weeks voting. The winner with 29% of the votes is the official theme of the 2009 Sunrise Festival, Rank 1 – Symfo. Rank 1 always comes through when it comes to bringing great anthems for big festivals like this. Coming in with 21% of the votes is the new track from Nic Chagall featuring Jonathan Mendelsohn, “This Moment(Prog Mix)”. Nic Chagall always seems to find amazing vocalists for his records, and this is no different.
In number three with 18% of the votes is the 4 Strings Remix of Carlo Resoort’s “Liftetime”. This has to be one of the top uplifting tracks of 2009 so far, great remix work done by the amazing 4 Strings, at the same time great piece of work by Carlo Resoort on the original. With 16% a piece comes the Aurosonic Remix of Tritonal’s “What I Say” and Ummet Ozcan Vs W&W’s “Synergy”. Tritinal is becoming one of those producer teams where everything they put out is fire(check out “Piercing Quiet”), while W&W has now been one of my favorite duo’s for the past 2 years and teaming up with Ummet Ozcan can only spell good things, as it did on this track.
Enjoy this weeks tracks and keep your votes coming, tell your friends, help us grow into an empire!
